COVID19 NEWS & UPDATES
Tips, clips and reading to help you thrive over the next wee while...
So much about our lives has changed dramatically and quickly. A lot of what is happening is out of our control. On different days and for different reasons we will all share the experience of finding this challenging.
It’s never been more important to intentionally build resilience within ourselves and our loved ones. We can control how we choose to respond. We can grow our resilience at this time by how we choose to live our current lifestyle, keep our tanks full and how we respond to distress.
Learning new skills, strategies and habits will grow your ability to cope with challenges. Experiment with these ideas and skills. I encourage you to commit to using them over a period of time in order to see the benefits. Different people like different techniques so play around with them. Encourage your family members to try them with you. The younger you star, the better!
WHY BOTHER?
Ongoing stress affects your physiological chemistry. It causes the release of stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenalin. Equally, we can counter these by doing things to increase our happy chemicals- the trifecta of serotonin, dopamine and oxytocin. Increasing these will build both mental and physical resilience which in turn will reduce the impact of stress and keep you connected to yourself and others.
Check these out. (Please note I have deliberately chosen child friendly youtube clips because they are quick, easy to understand and good to share !)
